Ask the funeral home which body oversees it, and get the price list and contract terms in writing before you sign.
Registering a death
Deaths are registered with the province, usually with help from the funeral home. Death certificates, which you'll need for insurance claims and the estate, are ordered through NWT Health and Social Services: register a death .
Federal benefits
The CPP death benefit applies everywhere outside Quebec, which has its own plan.
